Thank you for visiting the newly updated Ken Farrell Photography website.
I have included hundreds of random portraits from my early 35mm film work in the 1970s up to my current digital street photography.
In 1971, I was 21 and had never considered taking photos before my friend Vaughn convinced me that buying a camera was a good idea. I picked up an Exakta camera, and I was immediately drawn to taking portraits of friends, family, neighbors, parades, events, and strangers on the street. Basically, anything and everything I could shoot. And I owe it all to Vaughn.
My current book, “The Mermaids of Coney Island,” was just released. It is a hard-covered book, 100 pages in color and black & white. All the photos were taken over 12 years at the Mermaid Parade in Coney Island, a yearly event that attracts tens of thousands every June. The book is my take on the “mermaids,” all shot before the parade actually begins.
The MERMAID PARADE GALLERY features a sample of images from the book.
Prints are available of all photos on the website and from any of my books.
Thanks for taking a look.
Let me know what you think.
All feedback is welcome.
